Ian Carroll is the Chief Technical Director, Principle Software Engineer, and Founder of Squirrelington Studios.
Ian holds a degree in Theatre Arts from Towson University where he studied Acting, Directing, Stage Management, Theatre History and Production Design. He’s also a self taught Software Engineer working in the field of Web Development for half a decade. He’s a student of Genre-based Narrative Improv for nearly as long, and has performed in, directed, and organized show runs for the community of performers at Impro Theatre and Outpost 13. He has pushed the boundaries of remote Zoom-based improv, Technical Improvisation of lights and sound, and OBS Broadcast Operations. He is also one of the organizers of TADA, The Tech Alliance of Distributed Artists, a facebook group for technical sharing and support of OBS and Zoom-based improv shows for many small theatres and operators. He is a Cinematographer, Editor, Color Correctionist, and Streaming Internet Broadcast Engineer. Finally, he spent ten years studying Taoist Philosophy, and is a writer of Poetry, Short Stories, and Fictional Love Letters.
Ian dreams of an new artistic movement, where artists can come together and create without needing permission, of a world where everyone can create art freely and joyfully together, learning from one another as we share ourselves and our art. He truly feels that if more art was created this way, it would change the world for the better.
